22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox (or sheep) goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 7:22-24 (King James Version–verse 22 addition mine)
Some posts are very hard to write because they can hit home personally. You also know that a post can cause people to get upset-even though it’s the truth. However to my fellow Americans, I had to write this.
I did not watch last night’s first Presidential Debate between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump due to the fact it was nothing but political theater. First, the debate shut out Third-Party candidates Jill Stein and Gary Johnson. Second, nothing regarding real issues (economy, police brutality) were mentioned. Third, We The People were treated to more jabs than a boxing match. Outside the debate-and followup debates to come-we’re treated to sound bites.
What amazed-and saddened-me was how many of us in America accept this. Despite double-digit approval ratings, Stein and Johnson were not heard from. We mock Johnson’s “Aleppo” gaffe and Stein’s anti-vaccination stance; however we forget Clinton’s husband’s “Three Strikes” drug law and his backpedaling on the Haiti crisis during his presidency. We also gloss over Trump’s sins: racist renting policies; bankrupt business attempts; and xenophobia. In other nations, we see many parties participating in national politics-even to the executive levels. However, here in the US it’s a different story.
I watch We The People turn into We The Sheeple during this election. I see two candidates who will tear the Constitution into confetti whilst saying it’s for our own good. I don’t see any stances on our personal liberties, or how they’re going to downsize government’s nose in our affairs. What about downsizing military intervention across the globe and the Pentagon budget? What about repealing our onerous drug laws-which President Bill Clinton gladly kept in force-that has non-violent offenders doing hard time? What about getting government out of our personal affairs? What about abolishing the IRS and allowing Americans to use and invest their money? All I hear are crickets…
Tonight’s Scripture actually describes the fate of some stupid-assed young man who runs with an adulterous wife, as warned by the writer of Proverbs. Sad to say, I can replace the young man with the American voting public; and the adulterous woman with Trump and Clinton. Consequently, we’re trading liberty for security, the Bill of Rights for preferential privileges for a certain minority, and individual freedom for the government nanny. And when we do realize these blessings are gone, what then? It will be too late. For we’ll be like lambs to the slaughter…
As we prepare to vote in November, let’s use Godly discretion by doing due diligence. Let’s fact-check the promises. Let’s hear from all the candidates: you never know, you may see a Third-Party candidate who you’d agree with. Let’s try to listen to our news from other sources besides the corporate media. For whoever ends up in the Oval Office will shape foreign and domestic policies for years to come.
Think about it my friends. Peace.
