The Cecil the Lion Show

The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness
Proverbs 15:14 (New King James Version)

We’ve become fixated on the killing of Cecil the lion, who was shot by American dentist Walter Palmer in Zimbabwe without permission.  The beloved Cecil’s dead body was posed with “Great White Hunter,” who since been under attack in the social media.  You see cartoons and postings attacking Palmer; even as far as posting his practice’s address so that people could boycott it.  The outcry has been enormous to say the least.

However, we see increased police brutality against Blacks in America as we still try to make sense of the death of Sandra Bland and Sam DuBose.  Yet here in America, it seems that some African lion’s death means more than Black lives.  To me, that’s crazy and has me questioning the sincerity of many Americans.  And I’ve learned that these same “outraged” Americans never made any outcry about Zimbabwean Dictator Robert Mugabe’s human and wildlife rights abuses as well.

It appears that the media is using the killing of Cecil to distract people from the issue of racism in American policing-especially when Blacks are the unintended-and innocent-victims.  Plus we created a new bogeyman-the American hunter. This story-which normally won’t surface-just seem to come at a time when Americans are starting to see the truth about police brutality and its sister evil, racism.  Call me suspicious, however I feel it’s more than just a coincidence.

At a time when We The People should be mobilizing to combat the above evils and confront The Powers That Be about this, we’re now cooing and boo-hooing over the death of Cecil the lion.  In fact, it’s turned in the fucking “Cecil the Lion Show.”  Good God people!  Is this what we’ve become?  There are even Blacks out there who are mourning Cecil’s demise.  Are people so weak-minded that they’ll allow the media to drag a red-herring on the path of justice and throw them off?

Now please don’t get me wrong.  I’m not into sport hunting, and yes what happened to Cecil was wrong.  I love nature and believe in its preservation.  I’m also a pet owner as well.  However, I also believe in defending the rights of people whose rights have been trampled on in this Nation for generations.

What I’m seeing is reflected in tonight’s text, that fools feed on foolishness.  That people are turning into a society of fools that live off foolishness (especially media fed).  Instead of seeking knowledge-the truth behind what we’re fed (if any)-we’re sucking up gooey stories about lions in Africa like biscuits sucking up gravy.  Plus it focuses our attention on a lone White dentist to kind of say, “See? We found this bad White man you can go after,” instead of the countless White police officers who’ve attacked-and killed-innocent Blacks.

We need to wise up people-and fast!  If we don’t confront the issues of the day with the truth that God equipped us with, we’ll turn in to a nation of fools believing anything that’s tossed to us: whether it’s Walter Palmer, Cecil the Lion, Donald Trump, or any other “big news.” We’ll just follow along, distracted like some puppy.

Oh, by the way, a tidbit of news that also caught my eye this week, just in case Sandra Bland and Sam DuBose don’t matter as much.  CNN reported that Russian aircraft have been flying close to American airspace, as well as over the English Channel and near Japan.  Russian President Vladimir Putin has been flexing his military muscles in recent days with the addition of 40 ICBMs to Russia’s arsenal.  We don’t know if this is a prelude to war; or if Putin’s just reminding the West about his power (especially after the Ukraine mess).  Now mind you, we haven’t seen shit like this since the Cold War.  Then again, people won’t mind this and speak to our leaders.  Maybe when this boils over to a major conflict that could-at best-destabilize society, and when Cecil and others become Sunday dinner, maybe then we’ll wise up….

…However it will be too late.  Let’s wise up folks and focus on what really matters.

About dangerouschristian

My name is Victor Reynolds. I'm a Christian who desires a more mystical approach to my spiritual life. I'm also a photographer as well who loves to create. I call myself "dangerous" because anyone-especially a Christian-who dares to be beyond the "norm" and allows to let the Christ live in them is dangerous.
