I forget about the things behind me and reach out for the things ahead of me. Philippians 3:13b (Common English Bible)
It’s easy to write about what to give up during Lent-whether you’re a pastor, priest, or blogger. However, it’s interesting to read bloggers in the Boardinghouse-hold of Faith on what they plan to do for Lent. Me? I’m giving up the following:
I’m giving up the “living for others” life. I am going to live for me the way God created me to be.
I’m also giving up looking for approval and making unnecessary sacrifices. I’m giving up putting myself last at times when I don’t need to.
I’m giving up looking to be loved. I am loved by the Divine, and am infused with love to share.
I’m giving up marching to the cadence of another, and instead will dance to the beat of my drum-the rhythm of my soul.
I’m giving up apologizing for taking time from others so I can devote myself to my creativity. I need this time-whether it’s photography, blogging, writing, or going to artistic venues to “restock my pond”.
And in giving these up, I’m learning to go back to the Center and reconnect with those parts of me I’ve jettisoned for no good reason. I also will jettison that which no longer serves my highest good.
More to come on this subject. Peace in this Lenten season.
