Don’t Forget That Special Someone

Have some cake for you!

Fall truly, madly and deeply in love with your life; all of it, even the shadows, and never stop falling. Make a commitment to love, honor and appreciate numero uno; the person you are with, from birth to death, for richer or poorer, through sickness and health. Kneel at the altar of your most authentic self and say, “I do!” “I will!” and “I am!” to every life affirming question.  Thanks to soulseeds via Facebook

This is a repeat of what I posted on Facebook this morning-just more in-depth.

Today, while we’re out wooing our significant others for Valentines Day, let’s take the time to remember ourselves.  This is not selfishness, however it makes us more loving through and through in the end. We’re the first person we’re with when born, and the last when we die-no matter who’s with us. Love others, but make sure we love ourselves first.

Today, we’re called to remember that “special someone” with cards, candy, flowers, dinner, sex, etc.  Valentines Day is a day that’s supposed to be a day set aside for love-the love of another.  We even send cards to family to wish them a happy day today.  Tonight, restaurants are going to be busy with lovers having their Valentines Day dinner.  Some of us are going to put out some change for that special someone.

But what about ourselves?  Too often we’re told to put ourselves last on the list.  We’re to devote energies to others in our lives to the place that we get lost in the mix.  We need to reconnect with ourselves and love ourselves.  How can we love God and our fellow human, yet we don’t love ourselves?  We need to honor ourselves-the good and the bad of ourselves.  We need to become one with our authentic selves (the real us that God sees, not the facades) and make a vow to go through life together-for better or for worse.  We need to become our own best friend instead of our own worst enemy.

For then in the end, we can become truly loving: both to God and to our fellow human beings.  For we learned to love ourselves first.

While remembering others today, let’s remember ourselves as well.

Happy Valentines Day and Peace!

About dangerouschristian

My name is Victor Reynolds. I'm a Christian who desires a more mystical approach to my spiritual life. I'm also a photographer as well who loves to create. I call myself "dangerous" because anyone-especially a Christian-who dares to be beyond the "norm" and allows to let the Christ live in them is dangerous.
