Above it all…  (Image by Me)

But we all, with uncovered face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18  (21st Century King James Version)

Gonna move on up a little higher
Mahalia Jackson

God laid this one on me.

If an extraterrestrial were to stop by for a visit he/she would be scratching their head at what species we’ve become.  After 250,000 years of homo sapiens, we haven’t made much of a nudge upwards; we’re not that far removed from our primeval state when you look at it.  We’re pretty base in our ways, catering to our “carnal” nature.

Don’t believe me?  Look how we gravitate toward low-end living.  We’ll indulge in gossip instead of saying a kind word (or at least keep quiet).  We watch mindless crap that the entertainment industry pumps, but won’t go to a well-thought play, reading, or gallery opening.  We beat up on those “not like us”-sometimes literally and fatally-rather than engage them as fellow human beings.  We hoard it all for ourselves-at the point of going to war-rather than share the wealth.  We cede our God-given intelligence to “talking heads” instead of thinking for ourselves.

Even the Church is not immune.  We have preaching that panders to the people’s egos rather than provoke them to thought and Godly action. We degrade our beliefs into weapons against “the other” instead of using them as balms to heal.  We preach “health and wealth” for ourselves rather than go out into the communities and help those who are in need.  We rather be entertained by church noise than be enlightened by Divine truth.  We’ll buy the newest Xtian “how to” book instead of thinking for ourselves.

However while on Earth, Jesus was pointing us to a higher direction, the Kingdom of Heaven-a reality that was the Divine Universe that we all shared which stemmed from God; a reality that existed inside all of us.  He also spoke of the futility in trusting in our baser things-wealth, status, religion, power.  Jesus wanted us to realize that if we truly understood what he was teaching about the Kingdom of God, we could step outside our “selves” and begin to see things in a more cosmic view.  Thus, we can become the children of God.

What we need is a spiritual evolution; an ascension if you would.  It’s time for transcendence.  We’ve been acting too primitive in our living, never reaching our Divine potential.  What I mean by “Divine potential” is not some status in life that some prosperity teachers teach-no; it’s the potential to live at a higher plane at one with God.  It’s through this “upward mobility” we learn to love fully without condition, to be open and tolerant, that we peer below the surface instead of taking things prima facie, and ultimately transcend from a tribal to a global to a cosmic mentality.  We’ll learn how to save the planet and ourselves without need of politicians or celebrities.  We’ll have rights for all.  We’ll have equal distribution of wealth (and yes you 1-percenters can keep your piggy banks).  We’ll have spirituality instead of religion.  We’ll have peace on Earth.

Then the Kingdom of God will be revealed.

Time to take the brave leap and ascend to a higher plane, leaving or primitive thinking in the past.  It’s the only way we can grow.

About dangerouschristian

My name is Victor Reynolds. I'm a Christian who desires a more mystical approach to my spiritual life. I'm also a photographer as well who loves to create. I call myself "dangerous" because anyone-especially a Christian-who dares to be beyond the "norm" and allows to let the Christ live in them is dangerous.
