A Sudden Shock

A couple of weeks ago, my father went for a liver biopsy.  Unfortunately, and confirmed by a PET scan, Dad had a liver cancer that  was metastatic throughout his whole body. As of this posting, the cancer’s spread to his back.

This year hasn’t been a banner one for me. I first lost my brother to a stroke in February. Then in April, my Godfather to pancreatic cancer.

In May, my wife was diagnosed with cancer in her right breast-the second time in 10 years. After a full mastectomy, she is receiving chemotherapy. And unlike in 2001, we have a three-year old son to think about.

And now my Dad.

Life, no matter how much we prepare, will still shock the crap out of us. There’s no way we can prepare for these things.  I found out that there’s no Divine or diabolical/demonic cause to these things: they just happen.

So what to do? Deal with these vicissitudes of life head on and make the best of things; using our inherent strength, courage and wisdom” (per india.arie).

We will survive (and eventually live) despite what comes.

Once we get over the sudden shock.

About dangerouschristian

My name is Victor Reynolds. I'm a Christian who desires a more mystical approach to my spiritual life. I'm also a photographer as well who loves to create. I call myself "dangerous" because anyone-especially a Christian-who dares to be beyond the "norm" and allows to let the Christ live in them is dangerous.
